Ditch the Resolutions - Fitness Tips That Work

I know so many of us are eager to make ourselves over for the New Year.  Better diet, more exercise, less stress.  These are all great but sometimes we stall out before we're even through February.  I propose that you throw all of that out and make a few minor changes that can have a BIG impact in your fitness level and quality of life.  Here's the list:

Winter ice skating burns 400 calories per hr.  Bring water along!
#1. Pick an activity that is FUN for you. It doesn't have to be an extreme sport, just something that you LOVE to do that doesn't feel like exercise (even though it is)!  How long has it been since you went ice skating? How about trying snowboarding this season? Think winter-fun and you're on your way to breaking up the exercise monotony you've fallen into.

#2. Get up 1/2 hour earlier than usual.  Use that extra 30 minutes to stretch, make a healthy smoothie, go for a walk, etc. The extra time to yourself at the start of your day will have a positive impact on the rest of it. If you're already sleep deprived, turn in 1/2 hour earlier.

#3. Eat some GOOD FAT + Protein in the morning. Here's another area where we tend to get into a rut. If you are trying to lose a few pounds try a high protein smoothie with coconut water, almond butter (rich in calcium & antioxidants) or Sunbutter Sunflower Seed Spread. If you like shrimp, salmon, avocados, pecans and other healthy foods like these, eat them!  Add healthy fats like organic Coconut Oil  to your diet and you'll actually lose fat, be less hungry and unlikely to binge. They will also help with inflammation which often stands in the way of healthy weight loss.

Try getting a little extra protein + healthy fat in the morning especially after your workout.
So that's just three things! Just minor adjustments, yes but the payoff is BIG and guaranteed because they are totally doable.  Here's to the healthiest year ever!  Need more help?  Check out my NEW one day seminar at Brookdale College, Lincroft NJ:
