A Greener Clean - New Natural Laundry and Cleaning Products

A better way to clean your exercise clothing and home
I'm really excited about getting together with ABC's Extreme Weight Loss star and celebrity trainer, Heidi Powell next month at the Women's Health Magazine VIP Event in the Hamptons! Heidi and Chris always talk about "eating clean" and I've featured several organic, vegan/vegetarian menu ideas, snacks and supplements so far this summer. So we are definitely on the same page there but what about your clothing and your home? Do you realize we are exposed to hundreds of chemicals each day in just our laundry detergents and household cleaning products alone?

I hand wash and line dry all my cycling kits

Clean Laundry
My cycling kits are made of high tech materials that wick away moisture and block out solar rays at the same time. I am careful to hand wash these delicate fabrics with something that rinses out easily while removing odors from such synthetics. I use SportWash Sensi-Clean Liquid Laundry Detergent as it is gentle and pure enough for baby clothes.

Green Laundry
If you are doing household laundry like sheets and other such items, you can go clean AND green with the new refillable detergent, fabric softener and color brighteners now available. My Green Fills is made from non-toxic, unscented ingredients. You simply purchase the refill packets and mix the product in the jug with water. Less plastic in the landfills folks! I've used the Unscented Laundry Soap, Enzyme Stain Remover and Fabric Softener in my washing machine. After hanging my sheets on the line, they were soft and smelled of fresh air and sunshine! The soap and fabric softener are very watery but seemed to work quite well when used with the Enzyme Stain Remover (1st ingredient is baking soda). A Clean House
How clean is your house really when most of the commercial cleaning products are so full of chemicals, colorants and artificial fragrances? These sort of things do not contribute to healthy air quality within the home. You can clean SO much with old newspapers (glass, metal, etc.) using simple lemon juice, vinegar and baking soda. These natural cleaning supplies are easy to recycle, non toxic and will not "off-gas" in your home after use.

Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products - NaturezWay
These NaturezWay Bamboo Perforated Towels are super soft yet nearly indestructible yielding many uses before they need to be discarded. Bamboo is a highly sustainable plant as it will grow even in non-tropical areas and is almost impossible to eradicate once established. The rayon Bamboo Fiber is very absorbent and once wet, feels well... just like cloth. They claim these towels can be used up to 100 times but you know how that goes. After a certain point they get so grungy they have to be thrown away. Still it beats the one use paper towels currently on the market.

Bamboo Floor Wipes
These fit on most "Swiffer" type mops and are very durable, just like the Perforated Towels. Use the Bamboo Floor Wipes wet or dry to clean even very tough stains on your household surfaces. Considering an estimated 3,000 tons of paper towels are thrown into landfills each day in America, whatever we can do to lessen that impact is going to help. The trend towards less chemicals and more natural solutions for everyday chores is growing. Clean eating and clean living go hand in hand. You can purchase NaturezWay Bamboo Perforated Towels and Floor Wipes ONLINE at Target.com or check them out at NaturezWay.com
